CAVERNE was born of the great emotion aroused by our visits to Lascaux and Chauvet, and the feeling of closeness we experienced despite the tens of thousands of years that separate us. The decorated cave appeared to us as a mysterious theater, rich in vanished beings and worlds, in distant dreams. What motivated men and women just like us to descend underground and paint animals on the walls? What was the content of these stories? What is the meaning of these parietal images? Why mainly animals? These are unanswered questions.

Here, we delve into the myths, prejudices and beliefs we have built up about the origins of human society.
